Come February, it is time to turn the page on MLK and Rosa Parks. We must recognize other outstanding Black Americans.
Today, I gave the WSJ 5 stars for its editorial on the passing of a great American.
They editorialized on a positive American story: "A London-born Jew founds an all-black basketball team that proudly calls Harlem its hometown-thought they are all from Chicago. Years later a black child from Jim Crow South grows up, makes the team, and plays across the world before adoring crowds of all races, creeds and nationalities."
"We were part of something that America needed at one time," Meadowlark told a sportswriter. " America needed Joe Louis. America needed Arnold Palmer. America needed Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Armstrong. And America and the world at one time needs people like the Harlem Globetrotters and Meadowlark Lemon. And America is a better place for them." R.I.P.
